Hi There!

I’m Lauren. By day, I work in clinical research at a local hospital and take courses at a local community college as a hopeful future nursing student. By night, I love to cook and eat. I also love talking about food—recipes, restaurants, dishes, drinks, you name it—with my friends and family, and the first time I saw a food blog I knew I wanted to start one.

I didn’t really grow up cooking—I was definitely that kid that if left to my own devices, had cereal for dinner and made pasta with jarred sauce, and that was it. Over time, thanks in part to the influence of my large Italian family, I started to try new foods and developed a love for eating and unique dishes. The first time I tried risotto, I loved it so much that I decided to learn how to cook it, and the rest is history.

Here you’ll find original recipes and creations that I’ve tested, photographed, and actually eaten. I like to cook with real food and avoid highly processed food as much as I can (but we indulge, don’t worry.). My inspiration comes from so many places—dishes I’ve tried while traveling, food combinations I see on Pinterest, and often just combing the pantry for whatever I have to make something to eat. I like to keep my recipes simple and straightforward, but full of flavor.

When I’m not working, studying, or cooking, I’m spending time with family, friends, and my boyfriend Don, watching 30 Rock or Scrubs, playing with grown-up coloring books, and napping, which is a completely legitimate hobby. I also love and adore the Golden Girls.
